Monday, February 4th will be rotation day 2.
This week we will finally
finishing our mammal projects! Cross your fingers!! Remember:
This has been an in-class project.
Students will NOT have to do any work outside of the classroom.
Students have been
working in small groups to research their chosen animal. After reading information about their animal
they took notes on a graphic organizer. All
classes, except Mrs. Staudenmeier’s class are ready to present their
projects!! Starting on Monday, all class
(except Staudenmeier’s) will start presenting.
To do this, groups will be traveling around to different “stations” to
visit their classmates’ projects and learn about different mammals in Pennsylvania. Students in Mrs. Staudenmeier’s class will
complete their projects on Monday, then will start presentations on
Tuesday. I am planning on doing presentations
Monday and Tuesday. If Wednesday is
needed, we will extend presentations as needed.
After presentations are complete we will
start Lesson 9. Lesson 9 discusses
different types of populations areas, such as rural, suburban, and urban. Students will be having a vocabulary quiz the
following week on Tuesday or Wednesday (depending on when mammal presentations
are done). Please follow the blog and
your child’s assignment book for the date.
Look for a study guide to come home sometime during the week, when we
start Lesson 9.
Remember if there is a snow day, we do not
skip that day’s rotation day. We will
continue with the rotation when we return to school. For example:
Friday was day 8, Monday should be day 9 but there is a snow day. Therefore, Tuesday will be day 9.
During the snow days, please take the time
to wash your child’s belongings to help eliminate germs from school. Remind your child about the importance of
washing their hands often.
Valentine’s day parties are coming up
quickly! The party date is Friday,
February 15th. (This is a
change from the 14th, due to now being in school as a snow make-up
day.) If you are a PTO parent, please
contact me if you would like to help at the party. I will be sending home a class list for
Valentine’s. Remember, if your child is
handing out Valentine’s they must be given to everyone in the
class.
