Week of May 13


          May is a fun and busy month!  It will fly by! Please watch your child’s Friday Folder for important papers that are coming home. 
·        Our book fair day is Wednesday May 15th during special
·        Healthy Lungs walk
o   May 13th
o   If you would like to bring in any monetary donations, please put it in a sealed envelope with the amount and your child’s name.
§  You do not need to donate in order to walk.
o   Please wear gym clothes and sneakers. 
·        Field trip to Indian Echo Caverns
o   Friday, May 17th.  A lime green paper came home in Spartan Folder with information regarding the trip.  If you need another one let me know.  An orange lunch form was sent home.  If you need another one of these please let me know. 
o   The trip is during regular school hours.  Students will not need to come early or stay late. 
o   Please return the permission slip by Tue May 14th
o   Please contact Mrs. Eger with any questions or concerns. 
·        Swimming
o   May 24
o   This is 4th grade’s end of the year treat.
o   Please return the permission slip by May 13th
o   Students should bring a towel, and bathing suit. Goggles and flip flops are optional. 


Native American Dwelling Project
Final Due Date: May 24, 2019

Your goal is to make a model of a wigwam or a longhouse.  This project will be completed outside of school.  You may start handing in your project the week of May 20th.  Projects will not be accepted after Friday, May 24th. 

What to do:
  • Use your Week 6 and Week 7 Social Studies Weekly newspapers, and the internet if needed, to read about and see drawings of the houses that Native Americans used in our area.  

  • Use materials of your choice to create a display that represents either a wigwam or a longhouse.
    • Use natural materials (sticks, grass, bark, etc.) as much as possible
    • Make the dwelling as accurate as possible.  
    • You may include items that would be found inside and outside of the dwelling

You will be graded on:
  • How accurate your model is
    • Does it look like a wigwam or longhouse?
  • The materials you use
    • Did you use materials found in nature?
  • Neatness and effort
    • Is your project neat and organized?
    • Did you try your best?
    • Does your project show effort?
  • Creativity
    • Does your project show creativity and originality?
  • 3 Sentences
    • Did you hand in at least three complete sentences telling Mrs. Eger what you included in your project and why it was included?  
    • Sentences should be complete, with a capital and punctuation.  They should make sense and be spelled correctly.

Monday, May 6th, will be rotation day 1.

Week of April 22nd



Monday, April 22nd, will be rotation day 10.

          PSSAs will continue next week.  Math test days are April 29 and 30.  Science test days are May 1 and 2.  Since Social Studies is not a tested subject, Social Studies time will be used to work on study skills and practice skills for ELA, Math and Science.  We will continue handwriting.  This week will be working on angles and using protractors during Social Studies time.  We will also be practicing math open ended questions. 
·        Tests start at 9:00 AM.  Please have your child at the school at their regularly scheduled time or they will need to sit in the office for the duration of the test.  Any missed sessions will be made up at a later time. 
·        Please have your child refrain from bringing any electronics to school during the PSSA tests.  All electronics will be collected and placed in a bag outside of the classroom during the test each day. 
·        Our schedule will change on testing days, but we will still have special. 
·        Students should try their best to have a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast before the tests each day.

           Your child’s PA project and Geography of PA test should be coming home in their Spartan folder.  Please let me know if you have any questions.      

Please help our school and our classroom with our PTA Basket Raffle.  Our class theme is “Hot Drinks.”  We would greatly appreciate any and all donations to help our class basket be the best in the school!  An ideas list went home a few weeks ago in your child’s Friday Folder.  Please have all donations to our classroom by April 12th.  If you have any questions, please let me know!!

           Most classes have completed their PA projects.  Please keep an eye out in your child’s Spartan folder for the project.  Many students are losing points because of spelling mistakes that were addressed on their outlines when I checked them.

Week of March 18th



Monday, March 17th, will be rotation day 6. Mrs. Eger’s homeroom will have computers. 

           We have finished up our unit dealing with the geography of Pennsylvania.  We are working on a culminating project instead of having a unit test.  The project is being completed in school.  Students are using their interactive notebooks and the textbook in order to find facts about Pennsylvania.

Wednesday, March 20th, is our Stop the Bleed presentation.  If you would like your child to NOT attend the presentation, please return the signed form as soon as possible. 

Yearbook order are due by March 22.  Extra books will NOT be ordered. 

          A paper about “Quotes for Good Communities” from State Farm was also in Friday Folders last week.  Please take a few minutes out of your day to call State Farm and help our school. 

Remember if there is a snow day, we do not skip that day’s rotation day.  We will continue with the rotation when we return to school.  For example:  Friday was day 8, Monday should be day 9 but there is a snow day.  Therefore, Tuesday will be day 9. 

If there is a 3 hour delay there is no special so it is a non-rotation day.  For example: Monday is supposed to be day 2, but there is a 3 hour delay.  Therefore, Tuesday will be day 2.
