This week in kindergarten we will be super busy!
The dinosaur reports will begin on
Wednesday. We will celebrate Dr. Seuss
day on Friday. We will finish the letter
Dd in phonics this week and begin the letter Vv as in vest. We will not have show and tell this
week for the letter Dd.
We will do the
dinosaur reports for the letter Dd. You
may use the template I sent or just do your own. We will finish the dinosaur reports on Monday
and Tuesday.
I’m sending home a copy of
the sight words that should be known by the end of the year. I will not be sending home all of the word
lists for practice from now on. We want
to see how the children do on a “cold read” of a word list to see if they can
really apply what they’ve learned and not just read what they’ve memorized.
In math we will be learning more about addition and
subtraction by composing and decomposing numbers to 10. This means finding all the combinations to
add to get a number. They can be called
fact families.
In reading we will begin a new book this week. It is called Bunny Days.
On Friday we will have students from Bloomsburg
University come and teach a one hour lesson about a book. Read Across America Day is March 2nd,
but we will celebrate it on Friday. This is
sometimes called Dr. Seuss’ Birthday!
Important dates coming up to remember:
April 3rd- Kindergarten
Graduation pictures.
May 20th – Kindergarten
Graduation
